There are 13 (thirteen) products in general insurance, such as property insurance, motor vehicle insurance, marine hull insurance, marine cargo insurance, aviation insurance, satellite insurance, energy-on shore insurance, energy-off shore insurance, liability insurance, engineering insurance, health insurance, bonding insurance, and miscellaneous insurance . Each product give contribution for company's underwriting result. Underwriting result is a valid measurement to know whether the product has a good record of sales quantity and underwriting quality (less on claim expense).
This research focuses on analyzing sales focus product of marine cargo insurance sold by PT Asuransi AXA Indonesia. This research is conducted to find focus sales product strategy of marine cargo insurance in order to increase sales and contribution of underwriting result. The reason behind this research is because underwriting result from marine cargo insurance product in PT Asuransi AXA Indonesia is one of the biggest contribution to company's underwriting result, however, in 2009 until 2012 period the company's underwriting result has decreased, the writer conducted this research to find the strategy and solution in selling marine cargo insurance product in order to increase sales and contribution of underwriting result in PT. Asuransi AXA Indonesia. The method which is applicable for this research is qualitative descriptive with IFE (The Internal Factor Evaluation), EFE (The External Factor Evaluation), SWOT (Strength, Weakness, Opportunity, Threat) analysis, and SPACE Matrix. After doing the analysis from financial report and interview the informants, the result of this research has collected. One of the recommendations that the writer suggest to increase the sales are market penetration, product development, integration, and diversification.
